SUD Reprocessing: Process Overview

Since our beginnings in 1987, we have focused on delivering services that meet and exceed the needs of our hospital and surgery center partners. Based on their input, we have designed reprocessing programs that offer maximum savings while maintaining the highest level of quality and safety. Our program's ease-of-use and outstanding customer service ensure facility-wide acceptance, optimal program compliance and maximum supply-chain savings.

Ascent provides easy-to-use device collection solutions for all areas of the hospital or surgery center. Collected devices and safely transported to Ascent where they are:

  • Sorted by device type
  • Cleaned and decontaminated according to item-specific protocols
  • Returned to original specifications and as dictated by rigid FDA requirements
  • Repackaged according to industry standards
  • Sterilized by environmentally friendly systems

Ascent has developed adequate methods and controls to ensure the device is as safe and as effective following reprocessing as it was as an original device. All of these methods must be developed in accordance with very strict FDA requirements, which are subject to review by the agency.

Single-use device reprocessing has been investigated thoroughly and always with the same conclusion: selected single-use devices can be safely, effectively reprocessed and poses no threat to patients or clinicians.
